Drive Across the US Day 6

Day 6 already??? Wow time has actually gone by pretty fast. I'm still confused about the days of the week and the date...but that will come back once we get settled I'm sure. Today much to my surprise Idaho welcomed us and then finally Washington welcomed us. I was the map person this whole trip (we have gps so I didn't have to do too much) and every time I looked at the map I just saw that we'd leave Montana and hit Washington. Little did I know that in between we'd hit the finger of Idaho. These pictures aren't as good as the others because I was driving...for Idaho we stopped at some lookout point, but for Washington I was literally driving...and then they went and put it on the left hand side...who does that?!

Today was a very long day. We started our day around 9:30 in the morning after going out for breakfast (we usually try to stay at hotels that have free breakfast but finding ones that will let us bring Duke in can be difficult). Jonny drove us 3 hours west to Butte, MT at which time we drove to a Uhaul place and unhitched the car...this whole trip we've been towing our civic behind our pilot. We decided to unhitch to drive through the mountains that way we'd be safer, make better time, and get better gas mileage. Along the way we saw lots of really long trains most of which weren't moving and we saw some beautiful scenery.

This is Butte, Montana
After Butte it took us about 6 hours to drive to Spokane, Washington. Driving through the mountains wasn't too bad. It was four lanes all the way and didn't have too many steep grades. The biggest thing that made me hold on tight to "ten and two" were the curves. Some parts were really curvy.

I'm very excited to say we are in Washington. We are only about 5 1/2 hours from Everett. Next up...finding a place to live. :o)
