Drive Across the US Day 1

Day 1 is over. Hooray! It was a long first day. We took Duke to be bathed this morning, went back to the house and finished packing up the vehicles, picked up the tow dolly, and then picked up Duke and then we were off (around 1:00 this afternoon). It was a late start. We managed to make it to the other side of Atlanta in a town called Kennesaw. Georgia welcomed us.

There wasn't much traffic all day and even through Atlanta. Did you know that 75 turns into seven lanes (on one side so actually 14 lanes)!? Holy cow. I've heard that traffic gets packed and backed up through there. How many cars do you think need to be on the road at the same time going the same way to take up 7 lanes? I'm truly confused about that and I wonder what it must have been like with 2 lanes.

How did Duke do? Well he is slightly terrified of the Civic (which we are towing behind). I guess from the inside looking out, it looks way to close. He has the whole back trunk area in my Pilot to max and relax and there he is as close to the middle row seats as he can get. We could tell that he had a lot of anxiety but he did lay down a couple of time and Jonny and I agree that he'll get more used to it as we go.

Tomorrow we will get an earlier start (hopefully no later than 9) and will try to make it to St. Louis. Hopefully Tennessee will welcome us too. :o)
